Cara Pan is a 3rd year undergraduate student from Shanghai, China studying MChem Chemistry.

Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics.
Why did you choose your course?
I want to explore the world of Chemistry.
Why did you choose The University of Manchester?
The city is a great attraction
What do you think is the best thing about The University of Manchester?
The society, the teaching and the labs.
Are you involved in any clubs or societies, and if so what are they?
Yes I am one of the committee members of the Chinese Studies Society.
What is student life in Manchester like?
Student life is abundant and there are lots of events to participate in.
What skills are you gaining from your studies which will best help you in your future career?
Definitely I would say lab experience and presentation skills
What support are you receiving/have you received regarding choosing a career, future study, etc?
We have been offered careers talks to discuss a future career in Chemistry, and we also had some visits to the School from external companies.
How well do you feel your time at university has prepared you for your future career?
There is always support available if you are struggling and staff who provide support and advice.
What advice would you give to someone thinking of applying to The University of Manchester?
Come and join this big family and you will enjoy the most precious few years in Manchester!
