\u201cHello and welcome to the Department of Chemical Engineering and Analytical Science.\u00a0 My name is the Loraine McKoy and I am the Education Support Deputy Manager.\u00a0\u00a0 I work in the Education Support Office and line manage a team of fantastic and hardworking Education Support staff. My role is to support the Education Manager in running all operational aspects of administrative support for the Teaching &Learning\u00a0 activities\u00a0 for the in the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes within the department.\u00a0 I oversee a variety of activities to ensure the smooth running of the office\u2019s standard administration processes for UG, PGT and PGR students, including: assessment and examination processes, welfare and pastoral support. I also manage the International monitoring requirements, Census checks, CAS, Visa, ATAS activities. Registration\/Induction & Graduation to name a few of my responsibilities.\u201d<\/p>\n

I will be your first port of call in your communication with the university\u2019s admin and finance teams and with the Department\u2019s PGR Director. Also if PGR students have any well-being issues, they can talk to me as the first contact point. Students usually come to see me if they are having difficulties with university or their well-being, or if they need support with a disability during their studies. My best advice would be not to wait until things go wrong! The main part of my role is dealing with students undertaking Industrial Experience year as well as those who are searching for a placement. Students that would like to undertake a placement year will hear a lot from myself, particularly in the second year as I will be offering you all the support needed to secure a placement, this includes things such as weekly bulleting, preparation for and interview or even advice on how to improve your CV. In addition to the above I deal with students who would like to undertake a an Erasmus Exchange or a Word Wide Exchange in the third year of their programme. I can also help you If you are an international student that is looking to seek an advise on their VISA as I can give you an advise and support in this area.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u2018Hi! We\u2019re the Programme Administrators for the department, and our main job is to handle the general admin for all of your studies. We are mainly responsible for the assessment admin in the department, this includes but is not limited to UG\/PGT coursework and exam queries, dissertation project management and handling marks. We also help out with other things too, such as organising script viewings so you can go over your exam papers, or helping you to swap course units or change programmes. If you have any questions about anything assessment related you should definitely contact us, we are always happy to help you!\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n
