My name is Amar Rai, I am 19 and I am from Wolverhampton. I am studying MChem Chemistry with Industrial Experience.<\/em><\/p>\n

Why did you want to study Chemistry at Manchester?<\/h2>\n

I wanted to study Chemistry at Manchester because the University has been at the forefront of Chemistry and science in general for a long time. Many concepts in chemistry have been invented here, so by having such a historical background it really makes the university stand out.<\/p>\n

What do you enjoy most about the course?<\/h2>\n

I enjoy the flexibility of the course, and the wide range of modules I get to study.<\/p>\n

And the wider University?<\/h2>\n

I enjoy all the things it has to offer, such as societies, social events etc.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

What are your thoughts on Manchester as a city?<\/h2>\n

Manchester is a great city, there are a lot of things to do and it is very easy to get around with frequent transport. It is not overwhelming compared to other cities, like London, and there is also a sense of community, especially in the student areas.<\/p>\n

What did you study immediately before starting your course?<\/h2>\n

I did A Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Maths.<\/p>\n

How do you see your time at The University of Manchester helping with your career plans?<\/h2>\n

The university are very supportive and provide a lot of help, especially with industrial placements, which I am looking to do. They also have a service called CareersLink which posts many roles to help The University of Manchester students and graduates.<\/p>\n

Has your time studying at The University of Manchester caused you to rethink or alter your career plans?<\/h2>\n

At the moment it hasn\u2019t, because I am currently deciding whether to go onto further study or go for a job after my degree.<\/p>\n

What advice would you give to someone considering coming to Manchester to study Chemistry?<\/h2>\n

Be prepared as it is a big change, but also don\u2019t be afraid to go out your comfort zone.<\/p>\n

And outside university… what do you get up to in your spare time?<\/h2>\n

In my spare time I like to play football.<\/p>\n
