What I found within these walls was a vibrant and informative event, filled with interesting people who were well and truly excited by the projects they\u2019d put together here in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.materials.manchester.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">School of Materials<\/a>. What I also found was a group of people who already knew where they\u2019d be next year, a group of people whose successes at undergraduate level had led to exciting opportunities in all sorts of places.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_28\" aria-labelledby=\"figcaption_attachment_28\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\" ><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mub.eps.manchester.ac.uk\/uommaterialsblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/38\/2015\/05\/gap.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-28\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mub.eps.manchester.ac.uk\/uommaterialsblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/38\/2015\/05\/gap-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Charlotte Lowther on the right, standing beside the rest of her project team\" width=\"275\" height=\"183\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mub.eps.manchester.ac.uk\/uommaterialsblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/38\/2015\/05\/gap-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mub.eps.manchester.ac.uk\/uommaterialsblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/38\/2015\/05\/gap.jpg 350w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 275px) 100vw, 275px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"figcaption_attachment_28\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Charlotte Lowther on the right, standing beside the rest of her project team<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>There was Charlotte Lowther, whose final year work has led to a\u00a0two-year graduate scheme with <a href=\"http:\/\/uk.tommy.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tommy Hilfiger<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/uk.calvinklein.com\/store\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Calvin Klein<\/a> starting in September. Oh, and it\u2019s in Amsterdam. She\u2019ll be getting involved in customer relations management, business development, and Ecommerce. So not only will she be living in one of Europe\u2019s most exciting cities, she\u2019ll also be setting herself up for a fantastic career.<\/p>\n<p>Then there was Alice Starkey. Along with her team, Alice has been busy establishing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mimuofficial.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MIMU Official<\/a> \u2013 an ethically sourced bobble hat and accessories company that began as a final year project. Now, their goods are flying off the shelves. Even before their final year is officially over, they\u2019re already showing how successful they can be. Alice also has some exciting times coming on a personal level. In the next few months she\u2019ll be setting off to India for a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.makeinindia.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Make in India<\/a> cultural placement with the British Council, before beginning work as a Buyers Admin Assistant at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arcadiagroup.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Arcadia<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_29\" aria-labelledby=\"figcaption_attachment_29\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-29\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mub.eps.manchester.ac.uk\/uommaterialsblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/38\/2015\/05\/matblog2-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"275\" height=\"183\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mub.eps.manchester.ac.uk\/uommaterialsblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/38\/2015\/05\/matblog2-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mub.eps.manchester.ac.uk\/uommaterialsblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/38\/2015\/05\/matblog2.jpg 350w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 275px) 100vw, 275px\" \/><figcaption id=\"figcaption_attachment_29\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Amy Nicholson, on the left, and the rest of the Thrifty and Fair team<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Other highlights including meeting Amy Nicholson and her friends at the Thrifty and Fair stall. They&#8217;ve been creating bunting from sustainable materials, something we&#8217;ll be learning more about in a later blog post. We also chatted to Sonia Sumal and her team about their wonderful <a href=\"http:\/\/apecases.bigcartel.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ape Cases<\/a> project, and learnt all about Stephanie Smith\u2019s thermos chronic ink designs.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was here for the Design, Fashion, and Business Degree show.
