There are concerns, however, about its emergence &#8211; including its environmental impact and links to exploitation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In this episode, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dr Patsy Perry<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, Former Senior Lecturer in Fashion Marketing, and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.research.manchester.ac.uk\/portal\/en\/researchers\/amy-benstead(04507a05-f7ba-427d-845d-8a311cb8ffac).html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dr Amy Benstead<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, Lecturer in Fashion Management, delve into this dark side of modern fashion. Rachel Cox, a graduate of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.manchester.ac.uk\/study\/undergraduate\/courses\/2020\/09665\/bsc-fashion-buying-and-merchandising\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Fashion Buying and Merchandising course<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, also offers her thoughts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The team also casts an eye over Manchester&#8217;s fashion heritage &#8211; from the Industrial Revolution and &#8216;Cottonopolis&#8217; to the &#8216;Madchester&#8217; scene of the late 1980s.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The new Faculty of Science and Engineering podcast The Buzz kicks off with an episode exploring the darker side of modern fashion: fast fashion.
