Manchester launches Coding Boot Camp
Meet the Department 11th July 2019
The University has launched its first Coding Boot Camp in partnership with Trilogy Education, a leading US workforce accelerator. The University is the exclusive provider of the programme based in the North West and is one of the first universities in the UK to offer the Coding Boot Camp.
Why study coding?
Did you know, web development is one of the fastest growing careers today? There are now 1.64 million digital technology jobs in the UK, and the sector is creating jobs twice as fast than the non-digital sector [1].*
Furthermore, demand for skilled developers is high with 75% of UK businesses reporting a digital skills shortage in their employee base [2].
About the Coding Boot Camp
The Coding Boot Camp is geared towards adult learners in the North West, and was designed to help develop the skills and professional network needed to capitalise on this high demand.
The non-degree course is carried out part-time over 24-weeks. It teaches the front-end and back-end skills necessary for a career in coding and web development and covers the basics of coding, algorithms, and data structure, in addition to intensive training in HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Node.js, React, and more.
The curriculum is strategically designed to teach people across varying proficiency levels, from absolute beginners to those with existing coding experience.
In addition to classroom instruction, participants spend a minimum of 20 hours a week on outside projects and homework. By the end of the course, participants will have built a professional project portfolio to showcase their abilities and hone their competitive edge in the employment market. In addition, participants receive a range of career-support services, portfolio reviews, recruitment assistance, and extensive tutor support.
At the end of the course, participants receive a certificate of completion in Full Stack Web Development from The University of Manchester.
Enrolment is now open at bootcamp.manchester.ac.uk.
