Life in EEE Student experience 4th June 2018
Haseeb is currently in the second year of his Electronic Engineering degree at Manchester. He has created a video to show a typical day on the course which will show his timetable, a lecture and our computer lab.
Below he explains his reasons for deciding to study Electronic Engineering and why Manchester;
”As a child I grew up fascinated by technology. With a techy dad we always had little electronics scattered around the house, things like little lightbulbs and batteries, so naturally electronics was the way to go for me.
When selecting universities I looked at ratings, and I believe Manchester was 4th in the UK when I applied. After coming to an Open Day here the general atmosphere felt right and I knew it was the place I wanted to be.
I’m finally getting to study what I’m fully interested in. I never had the option to study Electronics in Secondary school or College. As another leaf on that branch, I’m also enjoying finally spending time with people who have the same interests as me. As Manchester is a very culturally diverse place I have befriended awesome people from places like China, Singapore, Latvia and The Czech Republic.
During my time at Manchester my sense of responsibility has improved greatly, to the point where one could even go so far as to say I am much more independent! Degree study has also given me the opportunity to enhance my time management, communication and team working skills which all enhance my interpersonal skills.
I feel studying at Manchester has given me a strong foundation for the awaiting world of work. It’s built my technical knowledge as well as giving me the practical expertise to enter a job role without fear of failure. I feel very well rounded and rather well equipped for what the future holds!”
