Pathway Profile: Geochemistry
Welcome to EES 23rd July 2019
Dr Rhian Jones spoke to us about the Geochemistry Pathway within our undergraduate Earth and Planetary Sciences degree.
Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Manchester has a long tradition of excellence in Geochemistry. Chemistry plays an important part in the way we understand our planet, covering everything from the makeup of the Earth’s core to the products of volcanoes, reactions between rocks and water, and the gases that make up our atmosphere. Within our Earth and Planetary Science degrees, you can focus on chemistry by choosing the Geochemistry Pathway. This pathway actually bridges both Earth and Planetary Science and Environmental Sciences, allowing you the flexibility to focus on the area of geochemistry that interests you most. In your third year, you will carry out an independent research project that might involve collecting samples in the field and analysing them in our world-class research laboratories. If you enjoy chemistry, and also have an interest in the Earth and Environment, we would love to have you join us here in Manchester!
